CHILDREN'S LIBRARY PROGRAMS
Back to Community Ministries
In 2012, the Mission Team was blessed with an opportunity to teach a week-long class for children in Sisak, introducing facets of American culture, as well as providing opportunities for students to strengthen their English vocabulary. Since then, the program has evolved into a thriving and much-anticipated event of the Summer for many participants. These programs have taken place at a children's library in the heart of the city of Sisak, as well as a library in the suburbs nearby Each presentation has centered around themes such as NASA, Texas History, sports, prom, camping, and much more! In addition to the presentations, each day the children participate in a hands-on activity ranging from crafts, science experiments, and STEM lab projects.
HiS PRINT has also joined with the local Sisak libraries to participate in the Read-To-Me program. This program provides children opportunities to strengthen their English by reading with an American mentor. These opportunities not only encourage children to practice their English in a safe, judgement-free environment, but it also provides an opportunity for discussion and conversation in English.
